You will need two lint free cloths, one to apply the oil with and the other to get the excess oil off. An old tshirt cut in half will also do the job, just make sure there is no loose cotton to get caught up in the wet oil.

Apply oil, we use Rubio Monocoat Maintenance Oil  . The colour you will need is called PURE which is just a clear oil. Be sure to spread the oil with the cloth across the entire table top, once you have covered every part, get your dry cloth and buff off the excess oil, ensuring that there are no areas that are still wet, your dry cloth once done should glide along the table top like a bowling alley floor! If there are areas that slow down the cloth, it means that this part is still wet, so keep buffing!

 

We recommend that you oil your piece of furniture, particularly table tops 1-2 times a year for both oak and Walnut tops. It’s a 5 minute job that is really worth doing, as it feeds the wood and prevents it from drying out and becoming susceptible to staining.
